Galatians 5:4
Stay in Grace
Verse
You who are trying to be justified by the law have been alienated from Christ; you have fallen away from grace.
Thought
You who are trying to be justified by the law have been alienated from Christ. Paul warns here not against sin but against legalism. Whoever goes back to the law distances themselves from Christ. Falling from grace means going back to self-effort.
This is one of the strongest warnings in the New Testament, and it is directed not at sinners but at religious performers. Grace is your standing. If you take the law as your measure again, you lose access to what Christ has done.
Today you can consciously remain in grace.
Truth & Application
Truth: Falling from grace does not mean sinning, it means going back to the law. Whoever wants to justify themselves through their own effort separates from what Christ has given. Stay in grace.
Today practically: Check honestly today: Am I trying to earn my standing through rules? If so, stop. Return to grace.
Question for you: Where have you unknowingly slipped back into the law?
Prayer
Father, thank you for your grace. I do not want to go back to the law. Today I consciously remain in what Christ has given. I release self-justification and legalism. Holy Spirit, keep me in grace. Amen.
