Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.

Prayer for Peace (Joh 14:27)
Original Prayer
Context (Old Covenant)
Word of Jesus (John 14:27), pure New Covenant: peace of Christ as gift, not as achievement.
What it teaches
Jesus' peace is different from worldly peace.
Realization in the New Covenant
John 14:27: Jesus speaks BEFORE the cross and promises HIS peace, different from the world's peace.
- ›Jesus' peace is not the absence of problems, but present reality in Christ
- ›"Not as the world gives", The world gives peace that depends on circumstances. Jesus' peace stands independent.
- ›Phil 4:7: God's peace GUARDS your heart and mind. It is active, not passive.
- ›You receive peace as a gift, not as the result of meditation or technique
- ›Peace is your identity: You are reconciled with God (Rom 5:1)
Prayer in the New Covenant
Jesus, thank you for your peace. It is unlike anything the world offers. I receive inner rest and release my worries. Let your peace guard my heart and my mind, actively and presently. Amen.
