Lyrics

When the world gets loud and the day wears me thin When no one asks how I really am within When I lose my way in the evening haze All I want is you to stay No big words just your hand Pulling me back where I can stand Hold me tight when I've lost my way Hold me tight til the storm fades away Let me feel that I'm safe with you Hold me tight and never let me loose I've learned to be strong on my own But sometimes it's fine to not stand alone Your eyes speak louder than words can say They guide me gently where my fears decay No big words just your hand Pulling me back where I can stand Hold me tight when I've lost my way Hold me tight til the storm fades away Let me feel that I'm safe with you Hold me tight and never let me loose And when the night comes looking for me And old wounds whisper quietly You stay my light my steady ground With you my time is sound Hold me tight when I've lost my way Hold me tight til the storm fades away Let me feel that I'm safe with you Hold me tight and never let me loose Hold me tight when I've lost my way Hold me tight til the storm fades away Let me feel that I'm safe with you Hold me tight and never let me loose

About this song

Isaiah 41:10: "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."

Mike's track title "Hold Me Tight" is a son's plea. The phrase carries a particular sound, from attachment theory (John Bowlby) to popular songs (The Beatles' "Hold Me Tight").

The emotional tone is warm, intimate, childlike. That is exactly the tone of the son-to-Father relationship. You go to the Father not as a formal petitioner, but as a child needing support.

John 10:28-29: "I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father's hand." Double hand-security.

Mike's track is a son's plea and at the same time a confession: the Father already holds. When he holds, it is firm. You only need to remain in his hold. Mike's sound carries this intimate hold reality.
