Psalm 18:16-18: "He reached down from on high and took hold of me; he drew me out of deep waters ... YHWH was my support." What carries you is not your strength. It is his hand.
Mike's track title "What Carries Me" is the reflection question after the homecoming. What carried me? What carries me now?
Exodus 19:4: "You yourselves have seen what I did to Egypt, and how I carried you on eagles' wings and brought you to myself." Eagles' wings, the powerful gentleness of the carrying image.
The English Christian tradition has preserved this carried-being in hymns. "Standing on the Promises" (R. Kelso Carter, 1886): "Standing on the promises that cannot fail, when the howling storms of doubt and fear assail."
Mike's track is praise for being carried. You do not have to carry, you are carried. "What carries me" has a childlike humility that is the truth of the New Covenant. Mike's sound carries this childlike confession in soft form.
