Titus 3:5
Salvation by Mercy
Verse
He saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy.
Thought
Not because of works but according to his mercy. Titus makes it clear: Salvation is God's initiative, not your achievement. He saved you because he is merciful, not because you deserved it.
The word "mercy" reveals God's heart: He sees your need and acts. Not because you're good enough but because he is good. In the New Covenant, salvation is pure grace, and nothing you do or don't do changes that.
Today: Receive his mercy for what it is, undeserved kindness.
Truth & Application
Truth: Salvation comes from mercy, not merit. God acted before you could do anything. That frees you from the pressure of securing your own salvation.
Today practically: Remember: You don't have to do anything to stay saved. God acted out of mercy and that stands firm.
Question for you: Where are you still trying to earn what God has given you out of mercy?
Prayer
Father, thank you for your mercy. You saved me not because I deserved it but because you are good. Today I rest in your kindness. I let go of performance pressure and attempts at self-rescue. Holy Spirit, let me live in God's mercy today. Amen.
