1 John 1:9
Righteousness as a Gift
Verse
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Thought
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Important: this does not say that God only becomes gracious through your confession. He IS faithful and just. Confession opens your heart to what has long been standing.
In the New Covenant, forgiveness has already happened. Confession is not a prerequisite for forgiveness but the moment you receive what is already there. God does not change through your prayer. You do.
Righteousness stands. Cleansing stands. Your part: be honest and receive.
Truth & Application
Truth: Forgiveness in the New Covenant already stands. Confession is not a condition but a reception. You open your heart to what God has long provided.
Practical today: If something weighs on your heart, bring it honestly before God. Not to change his mind but to receive what is already yours.
Question for you: Where are you still waiting for forgiveness that has long been spoken?
Prayer
Father, thank you that your forgiveness stands. I come honestly before you today. Not to change your mind but to receive. You are faithful and just. I release shame and open my heart. Holy Spirit, show me today the fullness of forgiveness. Amen.
