Ephesians 2:4-5

Blessed and Provided For

Verse

But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ, by grace you have been saved.

Thought

But God, being rich in mercy, made us alive together with Christ, by grace you have been saved. Paul emphasizes: God took the first step. When you were still dead, He made you alive. Not because you were ready, but because He is rich in mercy.

Provision in the New Covenant does not start with your lack but with God's riches. Unexpected things can pull you into worry, but your source is not your bank account, your job, or your abilities. Your source is God's mercy, which already made you alive when you were still dead.

Truth & Application

Truth: Ephesians 2:4-5 shows that God acts from His riches of mercy, not in response to your performance. He made you alive when you were dead. If He could do that, He can provide for you today.

Today practical: Name one area that worries you today. Then remember: the God who made me alive when I was dead provides for me now too.

Question for you: Where are you forgetting today that God's provision starts with His riches, not with your lack?

Prayer

Father, thank You that You are rich in mercy. Thank You that You made me alive when I was still dead. If You did that, I can trust You today. I release worry and the need for control. Holy Spirit, remind me today of God's overflowing riches. Amen.
