Gratitude and Joy

Verse

See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are.

Thought

See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are! John is overwhelmed: look at this love! Not just a title, you ARE God's child.

Joy grows from wonder. When you only look at what is missing, the heart gets tight. But when you see WHAT the Father has done, made you His child, then gratitude grows. And from gratitude grows joy.

Truth & Application

Truth: 1 John 3:1 calls for wonder: what kind of love! You are not just called, you ARE God's child. This is not a pious title, it is reality. And from this reality deep joy grows.

Today practical: Pause today and marvel: I am God's child. Not theoretically, really. Let gratitude rise.

Question for you: When was the last time you marveled at the Father's love?

Prayer

Father, what love! That I may be Your child, and I am! Today I marvel at this. I release bitterness and ingratitude. My heart is open for joy that grows from Your love. Holy Spirit, open my eyes today to the marvelous. Amen.
